Psalm 8

Here is the sonnet I made out of Psalm 8 from the Bible. Enjoy!

For Lord, your name is so majestic here
In all the earth. Hear babes and children sing
Your praises, reaching heaven bright and clear.
You’ve built a mighty fortress, Lord and King,

Safe haven from all rivals seeking death.
You stop all those who might oppose your space.
I look at heavens, conjured by Thy breath.
At moon and stars you’ve settled into place--

What are we, that of us you would think on;
Humans, that you love and care so for?
You have crowned us with glory, honor, fortune.
To you alone, are we inferior.

O’er all your creatures you give us rule.
Lord, your name majestic, earth’s jewel.

  1. I can attest from attempting a sonnet myself at one point that Iambic Pentameter is no easy task. Besides that, the language is simple and beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

  2. The tone and diction of your sonnet are exquisite. This would make a lovely Christmas gift, especially if you found some good paper and used calligraphy.
